Trip to Nerja, Spain

Gosia and I went for a 3 day trip to Nerja, Spain. Gosia's stepmother from Poland came over to look after the kids. So, the kids were in good hands and the could brush up their Polish ;-).
We made a long list for her so that she would know which appointments the kids have in these days.

We left wednesday night and arrived thursday in Nerja at 09:30 in the morning. We were lucky that we could immediately go to our hotelroom. It was a huge room with a kitchen and balcony with a view on the sea.
The hotel was mostly filled with old people from England. A few couples with little children but the grey haired people dominated the hotel and restaurant

After a short stroll through the hotel we saw that there was a trip organized by the hotel to the caves of Nerja at 10:30. So, we quickly asked if there was room for two more. There was place. So together with 17 pensioners we went to the caves. The caves were spectacular: here you can see some photos.

We had fabulous weather the whole time. In the afternoon we made a long walk in the center of Nerja. A beautiful small town. You have a beautiful view on the beach at the Balcony of Europe.
The second day we made a trip by bus to a small town called Frigiliana that is situated in the mountains. This village is well known for its white houses and has some nice small streets. Due to the high location Frigiliana has great views on Nerja and the sea.

Selling stuff and buying more stuff

Once a month there is a flea market near our house.

Gosia decided to rent a table and see how it goes.

Well, they did very well and sold a lot of stuff. It's amazing how much junk and stuff you collect in all these years. Here you can see our saleswoman Maaike. This man Robert had one of the strange items that we tries to sell:

But as always they went to the other tables where the kids saw many interesing things.

One of the things is this curtain which was hard to untangle

But it hangs now in Maaike's room.

Baking a cake

A century old tradition is continued.
When I was around 11 12 years old almost every saturday I made a cake at home with my mother or alone.

A few weeks ago I started to make cakes again in the weekends at home.

And guess what?

Robert and Patrick like it too and want to help me. So now the guys make the cakes.

The women eat it. and now Robert can almost make the cake alone!

I think they especially like the cake dough before it goes into the oven.

But the cakes tast great. When the weekend finishes the cake is usually gone. Here you can see the end of the cake at sundayafternoon
