Fun in the garden

The last week it has been rather cold here. Well, it' s nothing compared to the freezing temperatures in Poland and Russia but it's enough cold for the kids to have fun.

This sundaymorning they saw that the water in the buckets outside were frozen. This is enough material to keep them busy the whole morning. They get warm water and try to unfreeze the bucket.
And they succeeded. Now even more kids are here.

Destroying evidence

The children were helping me this morning with destroying secret information well . . . secret . . . they were old bank accounts dating back more than 14 years ago.
This is part of Gosia's cleaningjob on the attic.

Many old items like the papers that have been hidden for many years on the attic are rediscovered, so to speak.

Well it saves me to buy a paper destroyer: I have my kids doing that for me.

Teeth falling out everywhere

It seems that this is the week of teeth falling out of mouthes.
I just told you about last week when Patrick lost a tooth
Now it's Maaike's turn.

This morning she was eating bread and suddenly one of her teeth fell out. The tooth was already moving in her mouth a lot so it was a matter of time. She immediately called her mama at work! (not her papa ;-( )

The changing of teeth

Patrick is in the process of changing his teeth
So last thursday, I think, he once again lost one of his teeth.

Hoek van Holland Beach

Last sunday we were on the beach of Hoek van Holland.
In Dutch this means the ' Corner of the Netherlands'.
It is actually at one of the corners of our small country.
My friend Ron and family lives at this corner and it was his birthday.
We visit him every year on his birthday but strangely enough we hardly go to the beach there (probably because his birthday is in the cold cold winter)
But I brought it up a while ago so he thought it was about time to go there.

The first photo you see Ron in action throwing the frisbee and Robert in the back playing soccer.

The second photo was nice because of the blue sky!

Although it was c-c-cold around 5 degrees celcius we all had fun.
We had taken a ball, a frisbee and a bucket and some other items for Maaike to play in the sand.

After 2 hours we went back home to warm up again.

Horror movie

Funny picture for this Friday the 13th where many are watching horror movies.

Guess what? Gosia was lucky today: she found a 50 euro bill on the street while bicycling. How lucky can you be at friday the 13th!

Patrick in the water

All children in Roosendaal get one year of free swimming lessons. That means once a week a half hour swimming lesson. This year it's Patrick's turn.
He already knows how to swim like most children in his class.
Most children start very early with swimminglessons in the Netherlands.

Grandmother's 81st birthday

At Tuesday the 3rd it was Henny's mother's 81st birthday! Hurray!
As the kids were still had their holidays we could easily go and visit her in the elderly home in the afternoon. Henny had taken the day off.

A big surpirse was that Henny's aunt Jo and her husband and her daughter Miriam with her two kids came from the other side of the Netherlands to be with her sister's birthday. Also Miriam, her god niece, had come. That was very nice.
Miriam's kids were playing all the time with our kids. So that kept them busy.

We had a nice party there and although it was tiring for Henny's mother I think she enjoyed herself. After two hours she was too tired and she wanted to go to sleep

New Years Eve

Our New Years Eve was very quiet.

Our friend Josefien and her daughter Sanne who is in the same class as Robert came over to spend New Years even with us. That was nice.

We played some card games like Phase 10. That's a card game which resembles Yatzee
We got it as a present from a German family in Kassel where we stayed for a few days last year.
It's a fun game and guess what, the man who never wins, won. Henny!

We had bought some very simple fireworks for the kids.
They had a good time after twelve o clock with that fireworks.
I liked to watch and hear the fireworks. This year it was very spectacular.
