Selection for Children's Quiz

Yesterday Robert and I together with his schoolfriend Sanne and her mother went to the television studios in Hilversum.

Robert and Sanne tried to be choosen for a daily children's quiz. They had to do a test and a screen test.

They had a lot of fun on their way to the Television studio's and also during the tests. It was a fun day but also long for the mother and father.

Now we have to wait and see if Sanne will be selected.

Robert did not pass for one fo the tests. But he was not that disappointed. He seemed to be relieved that he will not be in front of the camera.

Carnaval Parade in the city

Saturday was the big parade in the town.

About 87 groups or cars paraded through the town. The theme of the parade was "it it always Art!" So all the cars were made with this theme. It was fun. We went by bike with our neighbourfriends and their kids. Gosia stayed at home as she is not a big fan of Carnaval. The weather was very mild and you could almost stand without a coat.

We stood there for 3 hours. I got a lot of confetti on my head and in my clothes.

Carnaval weekend

This weekend it is Carnaval in Roosendaal. Part of the Netherlands celebrate Carnaval.Below the big rivers in the Netherlands they really celebrate Carnaval.

People in the north of the Netherlands look with strange eyes at the Carnaval.I was born in the north so I am not really fond of Carnaval but the kids seem to like it.The schools organize every year a Carnaval parade as you can see:

SNOW!

The prayers of Maaike and Patrick have been heard upstairs.

After an extremely warm january we almost gave up hope for snow.

But today we have snow!

But yesterday they gave a warning for a lot of snow

So I decided not to go to my work and stay home

And during lunchtime the kids could play and have fun

Unfortunately the temperatures are too high and the snow is already disappearing again

Maaike runs

On a very c-c-cold and windy sunday afternoon Maaike was going to run with 80 other girls of her age and even older. She ran for 1,5 kilometres. Although I told her to start slowly and speed up later she did the opposite. After the starting shot she dashed off with enormous speed. Halfway the engine was finito and finally she ended on a very good 21st place!

The proud winnen of a beautiful medal!!

Morning Walk

Since a few weeks I make a long walk with Marja on sundaymornings.
It's nice to be up so early and walk until you are outside the city and into nature. Last sunday the kids wanted to accompany us but they did not want to walk. So as Dutch children they took their bikes.
